The special bank holiday weekend on the 2nd June - 5th June marks Her Majesty's 70-year achievement - The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. It's a long weekend filled with public events and activities including Trooping the Colour, Service of Thanksgiving, Platinum Party at the Palace, the Big Jubilee Lunch and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant. In amongst these celebratory events, it's the perfect time to bake some suitably royal cakes, put together a cheeseboard to share, and re-use your empty Bonne Maman jars for glorious table displays fit for a Queen!
Lemon & Pistachio Celebration Cake
A light and fluffy sponge sandwiched together with layers of double cream and our Raspberry and Wild Blueberry Conserves. Once assembled, this beautiful showstopper is topped with fresh fruits and herbs, dusted with icing sugar and crushed pistachios, finished off with edible Union Jack bunting. This is sure to be a crowd pleaser, served with a glass of fizz to toast to Her Majesty. Recipe here.
Jubilee Cupcakes
A rich red chocolate sponge topped with a generous tablespoon of our Strawberry & Wild Strawberry or Wild Blueberry Conserves and a swirl of delightfully creamy frosting. These wonderful cupcakes are perfectly baked in Union Jack cupcake cases and finished off with an edible sugar crown to add a royal presence! Recipe here.
Did you know?
One of Queen Elizabeth's favourite afternoon tea treats is a little snack called Jam Pennies. These are simply jam sandwiches cut into small circular shapes - like the original old penny! The Queen has been enjoying these scrumptious delights since she was a little girl, when she used to be served them during nursery tea. We thoroughly endorse Her Majesty's opinion and do think Jam Pennies are delicious... Be like the Queen for a day and enjoy some of our Conserve and make your own jam sandwich.
Chutney's
Available in Violet Fig with Shallot or Onion with Sichuan Pepper, our Chutney range is the perfect accompaniment to a celebratory cheeseboard to share with friends, family and neighbours at a Queen's Jubilee Party! Violet Fig with Shallot is dark, sticky and rich with the fragrant flavour of ripe, plump figs whilst Onion with Sichuan Pepper blends sweet grilled onions with the lemony, tangy heat or Sichuan peppercorns.
Table Décor
Go wild with your table during the Queen's Jubilee weekend by re-using your empty Bonne Maman jars for pretty, artisan floral displays; casually arrange an array of bright, scented English summer flowers in your jars and put on show for all to enjoy. As the celebrations go on in to the evening, our Conserve jars are also great for lighting up the party by creating floating tealights. Simply fill with water, flowers and add a tealight to create a beautifully cosy atmosphere.
